About Dj Tecknique

A true Chicagoan, born, raised and still living in the north side of Chicago, dj Tecknique’s journey began in 1998. What started out as a hobby has now grown into a career; from house parties and private events, to guest appearances in bars, to being a resident dj in some of Chicago’s bars.

This career did not develop over night and has taken many years to become his only source of income. His first break came in early 2003, when he started in Lincoln Park. It didn’t take long for people to take notice of pure talent. Tecknique was well diverse and played more than the typical hip hop and house music. He was well known for his ability to move any crowd and his ability remix the music using vinyl-records live. This alone set him apart from other djs. He quickly spread to nearby bars.

Over the next few years, Tecknique continued to work full time and pursue his true love, the music. During this time with fluctuating promoters, bar owners still remained optimistic and he continued to work at various spots in Lincoln Park and Downtown.

In the early part of 2005, with an established reputation, dj tecknique quit his full time job and focused solely on his career as a dj. In 2007, while staying true to using the vinyl record, he began to incorporate the use of hardware and a laptop. This was the turning point for his career. The ability to utilize a computer with his natural talent enabled him to exceed to new heights. In late 2007, dj Tecknique became a mashup-specialist (remixer) and has truly made a name for himself. His career has just begun and the best is yet to come…
